2024 ACTIVITY REPORT "Click here to download"
Established in 2012 with the vision of creating a world where individuals raised under state protection live high-standard, quality lives free from societal prejudices and negative labeling.
The association carries out activities to:
- Provide preventive, protective, and restorative social and psychological solutions to ensure children grow into strong, confident, and responsible individuals in society,
- Combat prejudices and negative labeling against children under state protection,
- Raise societal awareness about children’s rights and develop policies,
- Offer recommendations and guidance to lawmakers and conduct advocacy activities,
- Support preparation for social life and conduct social integration activities,
- Enhance children’s education levels through university-NGO collaborations,
- Implement role model programs.
On February 13, 2024, we held a meeting in Ankara with the Hayat Sende Youth Academy. The meeting discussed a roadmap for monitoring and advocating for the implementation of recommendations on Alternative Care from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
On February 14, 2024, together with Ankara Yurtayder and Hayat Sende Youth Academy, under the Etkiniz EU Program, we visited the Ministry of Family and Social Services and met with Deputy Minister Sevim SAYIM MADAK. We shared our views and recommendations on implementing the Alternative Care recommendations from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and presented our prepared report.
On February 14, 2024, together with Ankara Yurtayder and Hayat Sende Youth Academy, under the Etkiniz EU Program, we visited the Ministry of Family and Social Services and met with the General Director of Child Services, Ayşegül YILDIRIM KARA. We shared our views and recommendations on implementing the Alternative Care recommendations from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and presented our prepared report.
On February 14, 2024, together with Ankara Yurtayder and Hayat Sende Youth Academy, under the Etkiniz EU Program, we met with Celile Özlem Tunçak, the Ombudsman responsible for Women’s, Children’s, and Disability Rights at the Ombudsman Institution. We shared our views and recommendations on implementing the Alternative Care recommendations from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and presented our prepared report.
On February 15, 2024, together with Hayat Sende Youth Academy, under the Etkiniz EU Program, we visited the UNICEF Turkey Office. We discussed the implementation processes of the Alternative Care recommendations from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, shared our views and recommendations, and presented our prepared report.
On February 16, 2024, together with Hayat Sende Youth Academy, under the Etkiniz EU Program, we visited the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TİHEK). We discussed the implementation processes of the Alternative Care recommendations from the 93rd Session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, shared our views and recommendations, and presented our prepared report.
On March 27, 2024, we participated in an iftar program with children from the Children’s Homes Directorate. At the end of the program, we conducted a role model activity and held a discussion with the children.
On March 29, 2024, we organized the 10th Traditional Iftar Program for 600 people, including 150 children under the care of the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, 200 families receiving social and economic support, and families of individuals raised under state protection.
On March 29, 2024, we distributed aid packages to 30 families in need.
On April 2, 2024, we participated in the introductory meeting of the Turkey Local NGO Humanitarian Forum’s Malatya Local NGO Empowerment Program.
On April 18-19, 2024, we attended the two-day Etkiniz Forum themed “Why Do We Monitor?” organized by the Etkiniz EU Program.
On April 30, 2024, we visited Yeşilyurt District Governor Kutsal BAYTAK and informed him about our activities and association.
On May 8, 2024, we visited Şenol SARICI, President of the Association for the Disabled, and discussed potential collaborative activities.
On May 20, 2024, we held a dinner event at Hisar Restaurant with the girls’ volleyball team from the MİAD Children’s Homes Directorate.
On May 23, 2024, we participated in a Spring Festival with children from the Malatya Children’s Homes.
On June 10, 2024, we held a Malatya YADER Board Meeting to evaluate our activities and plan project activities.
On June 27, 2024, our application to the Turkey Local NGO Humanitarian Forum (TİF) Grant Program to Support Local Organizations was accepted, and we held an introductory meeting for the “One Spark, One Life” project.
On July 1, 2024, we participated in the Foster Family Day event.
On July 11, 2024, we held our association’s 5th Ordinary General Assembly.
On July 28, 2024, we participated in the opening meeting of the Youth and Education Association’s project.
On August 18, 2024, we organized training for 20 volunteer and member participants on Disaster Management, Basic Disaster Management Information, and Risk Management for Unaccompanied Children During Disasters.
On August 22, 2024, with the support of Kale Municipality, we organized a breakfast, nature trip, and boat tour on the dam for 25 girls from the MİAD Children’s Homes. During the event, Kale Municipality gifted books to the children.
On August 25, 2024, we provided training for 20 volunteer and member participants on the Correct Terminology for Communicating with Disadvantaged Children and Children’s Access to Justice.
On August 26, 2024, we participated in the Universal Periodic Review Turkey 4th Cycle Alternative Reporting Consultation and Preparation Meeting under UNICEF’s ACAR project.
On September 1, 2024, we organized training for 20 volunteer and member participants, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep SAĞIR, Head of the Psychology Department at Malatya Turgut Özal University, on Building Self-Confidence in Children, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Communication Skills with Children.
On September 7, 2024, we participated in the Aydın Doğan Foundation’s Gender Equality-themed “Strong Girls, Strong Tomorrows” Project Stakeholder Workshop.
On September 8, 2024, we provided Basic Rights Advocacy training to 20 volunteer and member participants.
On September 19, 2024, we participated in a meeting organized by the Ministry of Family and Social Services under the Social Services Law, attended by approximately 15 associations from various provinces in Turkey.
On October 4, 2024, we participated in the Civil Voices Festival organized by the Civil Society Development Center.
On October 12, 2024, we organized Gender Equality training for 20 volunteer and member participants.
On October 14, 2024, we held a Malatya YADER Board Meeting to evaluate our activities and plan project activities.
On October 23, 2024, we organized an event with approximately 50 children from the MİAD Children’s Homes Directorate, attended by our volunteers and members. The event included a puppet show, role model activities, and gifts for the children.
On November 14, 2024, with the support of the Equal Rights Monitoring Association, we participated in a training meeting for our project, in partnership with Turgut Özal University and Hayat Sende Youth Academy Association, addressing adaptation problems and discrimination faced by individuals raised under state protection in the workforce.
On November 15, 2024, we visited Fatih PEHLİVAN, Deputy General Director of Child Services at the Ministry of Family and Social Services, to discuss our project supported by ESHİD.
On November 21, 2024, we participated in the closing meeting of the Digital World, Children’s Rights, and Child Participation Project conducted by the International Children’s Center in Ankara.
On December 5, 2024, we visited the girls at the MİAD Children’s Homes and gifted them dolls.
On December 17, 2024, our association was re-elected to the Board of Trustees of the Malatya Governorate Yeşilyurt Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation.
On December 27, 2024, we organized a discussion and role model activity for the girls at the MİAD Children’s Homes, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep SAĞIR, Head of the Psychology Department at Malatya Turgut Özal University.
